We support the the American Families United Act. H.R. 8708. This legislation is overdue and must be passed by congress as soon as possible, especially now during this pandemic where citizens need the support of the spouse in such times of need. Spouses need to be legally recognized and given a fair opportunity to enable the potential of the family and children. It is an issue that affects many families and places a tremendous burden on the citizen spouse when resources are not distributed evenly among citizen and their families; hence penalizing citizens that continue to pay taxes yet don’t receive benefits in return. It is a tremendously unfair law that must be reversed by the passage of H.R. 8087.
